Edited by: Randuin MaraL on 28/10/2003 11:55:58 The small fleet left H-ADOC almost unseen by the guarding fleets of the Curse Alliance, slipped through Catch back into Central Space. Back again to central space, to 'imperial space', where politics prove to be more powerful than economy, where tradition rules over reason... but where the means to recover from war still were.
"This is not good, we will lose our hunting grounds and the ore of Curse and Scalding Pass" - "We must not risk this war, it will cost us more than we could win, and we must remain in Central Space." - "I will remain here, whatever it might cost me." The words of his people from the day before still were in his mind as Randuin Maral closed down the com channels, after giving the order to "pull out" of Curse, in deep thoughts: "They need to understand ..., at least the steersmen do. Brother Sajuuk has the deepest understanding of them all."
His thoughts turned back into the past ...
ôWhat is your vision brother?ö The brethren of the Arrakis Mining Guild asked themselves that question everyday. If a pilot had a vision and were Matari he had a place in the AMG.
From the very first days, the Arrakis Mining Guild has been operating in Great Wildlands and later in Curse and surrounding regions until the guild concentrated upon production of heavy goods for the markets in Molden Heath and Heimatar. As a simple mining and production corporation the AMG felt at home in Central space.
To put it simple, life was easy. But this feeling had been only a surface feature for many of the members and most certainly a giant faþade for the CEO Randuin Maral. The claws of deep space tore at the apron strings of central space that held the AMG in place. Again, with good friends backing, the AMG made the move to the deep space of Curse. While in Curse the opportunity to expand the ranks of the AMG arose with the fall of the Retro Knights CEO and the two corps merged. The AMG and the remaining members of the Retro Knights formed the Matari Back Bone. With the BackBone in place the corp took up arms with the newly formed Curse Alliance.
Not long after that the situation in Curse became hostile. Several corporations, alliances and groups started a war that set the whole region into fire. The BackBone joined one of the alliances to guarantee its own interests in Curse, only to find out that the war in Curse was too destastrous and not worth any investment...
... few days later ...
While leaving Curse and the Alliance had brought stability back to the corp, all knew it was temporary. This did not escape Randuins attention either. The draw of deep space was presenting all corp members not to mention the need of the resources found only where Concord is not. But, where to go? This was the question.
In his main office at Teonusude V, Randuin Maral looked frequently at the holo of the galaxy, searching for unclaimed areas where the BackBone could find the needed resources for the production and the peace to grow and gain strength. The mineral market was dominated by a shortage of the high-value minerals and it could be foreseen that his corporation would suffer from the situation. Furthermore, the galactical situation became more and more confusing after the death of the amarr emperor and as former members of the alliance in Curse, the BackBone suffered several threats and attacks from the still warring parties. While he looked at the holo, his eyes always fell on the South Corridor but he saw nothing but red marked systems, indicating war zones. The BackBone was stuck ...
Scouts have been send out to discover new hunting grounds and ore fields, but it seemed all regions have been claimed by the meta corporations and alliances.
Randuin closed his eyes for a moment ...
ôWhat is your vision Brother?ö That simple question was asked of Randuin by his old friend, well friend was too small of a word. "Focus on your vision my friend ... let it flow ..."
Again Randuin looked at his map and his eyes went to a region by the name of Immensea. He had been drawn time and time again to that point on his map. But now ... The name "Immensea" burned in his mind. He could see every star, planet, moon, and gate although he had been there.
No sooner had his fingers traced the outline of the Immersea region his personal comms link buzzed and turned on. An old friend appeared on screen. Primer Xenius of the Hegemonic Core and he asked Randuin an interesting question. ôWe are starting a venture with the Hegimonic Corp. and we would like you and your corp to join the alliance, too.ö Randuin answered with a question of his own. ôWhat kind of alliance and where would we operate?ö Primer Xenius answered ôWell an alliance of economic advancement, you know about it, it is XETIC; and securing of a deep space location to operate from. As far as where we are gonna operate let me ask you this have you ever heard of a region called I ____________________________________________________
